Hello, I figured out in a former topic [504], that the number of total daily messages schould not be higher then 120? What happenend if the number of daily messages overshoot this number? Is there any type of limitations in the datarate? Because I have tremendous shifts in my datarate and ping times.

Hi Timo. It depends. Where did you get your simcard? If you got it from iotcreators.com then, yes, there is a guideline of 120 messages per day max.
However, currently there are no technical limitations and no financial implications.

Yes, but so far it is just a recommendation. On radio network layer nothing happens if you exceed it.
But I don’t know what happens on a higher layer with 1NCE simcards. Sorry

@Uta Thank you that’s really kind. Maybe the images of different ping delays would help you? I use the BG96 Board in combination with a Raspberry Pi. Most of the time it works as expected, but sometimes a get tremendous delays.
I tried, to ping some different serves with no success.I attached two graphics, one of a normal ping and one of a “really slow” Ping.

Hi Timo, as @afzal_m mentioned nothing will happen on radio network layer. While using a 1NCE SIM simply the prepaid data volume will be consumed and you might need to top up soon - depending on message size of course.
Please review §7.8 in the 1NCE T&C for proper use of their SIM and possible impact/consequences. -

we experience this kind of behavior sometimes under poor network condition (weak signal). what CE-level did your module show?

@Uta It depend on the Location of my devices, it shifts between CE0 (i.e. RSRP -100 dBm) and CE2 (i.e. over -125 dBm).

@Uta Yes the issue occurred at the same location. But it occurs non-periodic.

Hi Timo,
Those strong delays are most probably a consequence of the weak network signal strength at your test location.
In CE-Level 2, the device has to repeat the same signal over the radio interface multiple times (up to 2048 repetitions in downlink, and 128 repetitions in uplink!) in order to enhance the link budget and ensure a successful signal transmission.
This has a direct impact on both the data throughput and the communication latency, which you see reflected in the Ping RTT.This can be solved by improving the signal quality, for instance by changing the location of the device or by using a better antenna.

@Timo-Siekmann Hi Timo, just to let you know, I have seen latency up to 30 seconds in extremely poor conditions (RSRP < -130 dBm). So what you are seeing is expected at those low RSRP levels. If you were to plot this on a graph you would see a correlation between ping and RSRP (and EC level).

@Ronan-Lacroix Ronan Thanks for your quick response. I tried different location as well with no impact to the irregular signal disorders. They also occur at good channel conditions (e.g RSRP= -90 dBm). I totally understand that the latency is going up with a weaker channel condition. But what I have concern about, that it also occur with good channel condition.

@Timo-Siekmann I suggest you enable debug information on the module. There are several commands like AT+CEREG, AT+CSCON that can help you determine what’s happening at the radio access level (they may be called different on your module). If you have a module that supports L1, L2, L3 logging via a PC tool that will be even more helpful. You may also plot the current to see where the transmit peaks are to determine if the radio’s behavior is correct.

@Stefan-de-Lange Hi Stefan, I tried the commands (AT+CEREG, AT+CSCON ). The output of AT+CEREG was 0,5, regarding the Quectel docs I think 5 could be “Registered, roaming”, should be ok. My other device with vodafone SIM Card gives the same feedback.
The output of AT+CEREG was “ERROR”, maybe the Quectel BG96 doesn’t support this command. Because it isn’t in the docs of it.
