@Christian Hi Christian, thanks for bearing with us. We indeed had some delay in the delivery, however based on current planning we should be able to activate it by the end of this month. We’ll be able to confirm it in the following weeks.

Release announcement: Activation of NB-IoT network features for AT, CZ, DE & NL
Release announcement: Activation of NB-IoT network features
Dear IoT Community,
please note that we will soon be activating new features, as well as will update the configuration of already available features in the NB-IoT network. With the transition, you’ll be able to manage your NB-IoT devices even more flexibly and efficiently. The activation is currently planned for beginning of November and will affect our networks in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands.
The changes at a glance:
• Switch to dynamic Power Saving Mode (PSM) - the network will now accept the values suggested by devices
• Switch to dynamic (long-periodic) Tracking Area Update (TAU/LP-TAU) - the network will now accept the values suggested by devices
• Introduction of Data Packet Buffering - the network will buffer up to 10 data packets for the sleeping devices in the PSMMore information can be found in the attached document: Feature Release Communication
If you already use PSM and / or TAU / LP-TAU, then please note that your devices may behave differently than usual after activating the network functions. We recommend checking the settings on your devices.
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask in our IoT Forum!

RE: Data Buffering
Currently, data packet buffering works only in combination with PSM, in the nearest future it should also work with eDRX. So once you activated this feature on your module, packets will be buffered automatically.

RE: quectel nb-iot modem is activated every hour - why? (psm is 10 hours)
Hi Lorenz,
one of the reasons for the unexpected behavior you described could be the fact that your device performs a periodic Tracking Area Update (TAU). You can read about it here and here (click on 3GPP Connectivity --> Power Saving Features --> Tracking Area Updates.
I’m not an expert on this, but it seems to me that TAU is active on your module, but please double-check. Look here for more details.
TAU timer on most of NB-IoT networks in DT footprint lays between min. 1 h - 310 h. If this value was changed by you to 0, our network will automatically change it back to the minimum value of 1 hr.
You have a possibility of adjusting this value/extending the timer, as our network supports a dynamic TAU, meaning it will accept the value proposed by your UE as long as it fits into the 1-310 h window. -

RE: eDRX in NB1 network?
Hi Thomas,
it seems we have some delay of the rollout of the eDRX in Germany due to technology upgrade and therefore this feature will unfortunately not be supported nationwide before 06/2020. We can however support you in your testing before the nationwide rollout, as we provide (paid) testing services in our lab in Bonn. Would that be an option for you?

RE: eDRX in NB1 network?
Hi Thomas,
I believe your question relates mainly to German market. Unfortunately, the rollout plan has been adjusted meanwhile. Based on current planning, the rollout of eDRX in Germany is expected for the end of Q1/2020. -
